Spring Term 2

Let's Go Outside

We have had a wonderful half-term. The children have been fascinated with our topic 'Let's Go Outside'.

We have used the books 'My Butterfly Bouquet' and 'Tad' to support our learning surrounding butterfly and frog life cycles. We are having a special delivery of caterpillars in the Summer Term and look forward to seeing the children observe the different stages of the life cycle.

This half-term, we have had a big focus on planting and growing. We have used the non-fiction text 'plants' to support our learning on this. Specifically focusing on what we need to plant a seed, how to plant a seed and how to look after the seed. We have also focused on the story 'Oliver's Vegetables'. We have planted and watered cress, observed it grow and then tasted it on a sandwich. We have also tasted lots of different vegetables and discussed our likes and dislikes.

We had lots of fun designing butterflies with symmetrical wings with Miss Ward.

Remember to use Tapestry as a platform for sharing learning experiences from home. The children love to look at their achievements in class with their peers.
