Birklands does Dragons Den

As part of the Parent Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) enterprise, students at Birklands Primary School have been taking part in their own version of Dragons Den.

Each class has generated ideas to present to members of the PTFA with the aim of increasing the £50 they will receive.

The ideas that have been thought up are fantastic. Foundation would like to use the money to plant and grow vegetables to then sell them to parents and carers to make a profit. Any money made will be used to purchase more gardening equipment and they will create some raised beds in the outside area.

Years one and two are planning on using their money to make sock-bunnies and book markers to sell at the Easter Fayre as they would like to be able to afford to purchase some iPads to use in the classroom to enhance their learning.

Our year three and four students are also getting crafty and creating some fantastic jewellery and photo frames to also sell at the Easter Fayre. Again, this is because they would like to buy something to help with their learning: some new and exciting books for their classes.

Finally, our year 6 class would like to use their money towards their end of year prom. To increase their £50 and make a profit they are baking cakes and creating a 'guess how many sweets in the jar' game for people to take part in. They’re also designing some ‘crazy mazes’, in which you have to put an obstacle through whichout setting off a buzzer.

Currently all classes are in the planning stages for their activities, and we look forward to seeing them make their ideas a reality!
