Welcome to Year 1
Welcome to our Year One class page!
Our Year One teacher is Mrs Wesley and our support staff are Miss Heald and Mrs Hopkinson.
Over the Autumn terms we will be covering a range of themes. We are looking forward to Science Week which starts on Monday 17th September - we will be learning about The Human Body.
We will also be learning about Africa this term. We will be using maps to locate Africa to see how far away it is from Warsop. We will learn about African animals and African weather.
This term PE will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. As the weather gets colder please ensure your child has leggings or jogging bottoms and a fleece or hoodie.
Reading is a top priority for all children as it underpins all the curriculum areas. By the end of year 1 the national expectation is that children are reading Orange book band books. We as a team want every child to reach that level. But we can’t do this on our own, we need your support! Please read with your child as often as possible, Please help your child by recording their reads in their diary; reads should be recorded with the book title.
Bronze = 50 reads
Silver = 100 reads
Gold = 150 reads
From the Spring Term children will begin to bring home spellings to learn each week. 5 spellings will be listed in your child's reading diary every Friday. We will hold a spelling test the following Friday and children will bring home their spelling books home to share their success,
Please continue to check our page for new information & share our journey in Year One
