School Closure 2020

Message from Miss Marsh

As this is the last day you are officially Year 4's I just wanted to say a massive well done to you all for showing such positivity and hard work during this (very strange) year! I am proud of all of you and wish you the very best in Year 5 next year. Thank you for all the messages, photos and phonecalls over the last few months and for making the most of an unusual way of learning!

If you collected your books from school on Friday or yesterday, you will have received your memory book and a little gift from me - I hope you enjoy reading through it! If you haven't yet been to collect this, it will be waiting for you in September! Have a wonderful summer, take time to relax and get ready for next year. I can't wait to see you all around school next year. Miss Marsh

On this page you will find work and activities set by your class teacher during this period of school closure.

At the start of each day, maths and English tasks will be set for you to complete at home, therefore it is important that you check every morning to see what your daily tasks are. All of the tasks will be based on the learning that you have already covered this year, giving you the opportunity to become experts!

In addition to this, there will be a set of weekly activities linked to our whole-school topic. This half-term we will be studying ‘Greece/Ancient Greece’. You may work through these activities in any order you wish.

We recommend that you do some form of daily exercise. Joe Wicks is continuing to broadcast his morning workout sessions via his You Tube channel. The ‘Go Noodle’ website also provides a wide range of ideas for movement and mindfulness activities to take part in.

Each class web page also contains a range of links to other optional activities that you may choose to explore.

We understand that working from home brings many different challenges compared to working in a school environment. Therefore we ask that you undertake the recommended work to the best of your ability and in a way that suits you and your family circumstances. We do not expect work to be printed off, or presented in a particular way. If you wish to send screenshots of your work, or photographs of yourself undertaking the activities to your teacher, then please feel free to do so - they will be more than happy to receive these.

Your wellbeing is of paramount importance to us; we encourage you to spend time each day doing the things that make you happy!

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me. My email address is lmarsh@birklandsschool.co.uk

Thank you for your continuing support,

Miss Marsh
