Reception Class Staff
Our class teacher is Miss Lounds and our fantastic teaching assistants are Miss Ward and Miss Parkin. Miss Stretton is Robin Class teacher. Please do not hesitate to come and ask us any questions.
Puffin Classroom
Each week, the areas of the classroom are enhanced with activities linked to our learning. Our neutral classroom include quality resources that we provided to help your child engage in meaningful activities. The children have the opportunity to access the provision within both reception classrooms.

Daily Routine
The school gates open at 8.35am. The children are given the choice of having a bagel prior to coming into the classroom. On the playground, you will see your child's teachers and teaching assistants ready to welcome the children. Parents/carers are encouraged to ask any questions or pass on any information that we need to know. Our school days begins at 8:45am.
After our morning routine is complete, all children take part in a Phonics session. We spend time in phonics developing phonics skills and learning different sounds to support reading and writing. Following on from this, the children then learn through play and group reading takes place. We interact with the children to help build communication skills and develop relationships with their peers.
At 10:15 we have snack time and rhyme time where the children have milk/water and a piece of fruit each day. We then have break time, followed by Literacy. We focus on a story and use this to support our learning.
After lunchtime we have Maths where children develop their number skills as well as other mathematical areas. This then leads to the children learning through play within the provision, and following this, a topic session. The afternoon also includes lots of time for the children to learn outdoors.
Our home time is at 3:10pm.
Uniform
In Reception class children wear a full school uniform. Please ensure that uniform has their name in. Please contact the school office if you have any queries about uniform.
P.E. days for Puffin Class are Tuesdays and Fridays, the children are expected to come into school in their PE Kit on these days. There will be no PE during Week 1 (week commencing 04/09/23). PE Kit includes black shorts or grey/black joggers, a white/burgundy t-shirt and black plimsolls or trainers.
Daily Reading
We need your support! Please read with your child every day and write it in their reading diary. Please ensure that your child brings their reading book into school each and every day reading for group reading and independent reading sessions.

Remember to login to Tapestry to see what your child has been doing at school. Please put your own observations on too, this would be amazing to see all the brilliant learning and exciting things that your child does whilst at home!!
