Autumn Term 1
We have had a super first week in Puffin Class. The children have settled in extremely well and have had lots of fun exploring the story 'The dot'.
The children are very eager to take part and be involved. This week we have particularly enjoyed creating our own dot pictures.
Over the last two weeks, we have focused on the story 'Our Class is a Family'. This has been a lovely story that has supported many different areas of learning. The children have really enjoyed the activities we have completed surrounding this story. We have had many conversations about how our class/school is a family and how we care for each other. As well as this, we have had a big focus on self awareness, this has included writing our names and creating self-portraits.
The children have all really enjoyed learning about The Worrysaurus and completing lots of different activities surrounding this story. In Literacy we have been focusing on hearing and recognising the sounds in words.
We have also been learning lots from the story Ruby's Worry. This is a lovely book that focuses on what we can do if we have a worry, no matter how big or small it may be.
Autumn Term 2
This half term we are learning all about celebrations.
We have been focusing on Diwali and specifically the book ‘Rama and Sita’. This has been a fantastic book that has provided a variety of learning opportunities. The children have all enjoyed sequencing, putting actions to and retelling the story of Rama and Sita in groups.

Over the past two weeks we have used the books ‘One Year with Kipper’ and ‘Kipper's Birthday’ to support our learning all about birthdays. We have focused on how birthdays are celebrated, when our birthday is and linked to this we have discussed key features of the months of the year and the four seasons.
'The Jolly Christmas Postman' has been a brilliant book for the children to engage with whilst on the run up to Christmas. Amongst lots of other activities, we have written our Christmas wish lists, Christmas cards and discussed why Christmas is celebrated.
